The Mississippi Delta: Delta Mystique

From start to finish, this trip is full of Mississippi Delta history, culture and fun. Tour the Tunica Museum to learn about Native American history in the Delta or stop by Leland, Mississippi to visit the birthplace of Kermit the Frog - this itinerary has something for everyone!

Day 1

Tunica to Clarksdale.35 miles. Use Hwy 61 South.

10 - Noon Tunica Museum
Relive how Native Americans settled in the Delta and how the Mississippi has changed courses through the years. The museum documents the history of Tunica County, including the importance of agriculture to this area.

6 miles north of Greenville lies one of the largest and best-preserved Indian Mounds in the southeastern United States, and has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the US Department of the Interior. Open Wednesday thru Sunday.

1:30 - 2 pm Birthplace of Kermit the Frog (Leland)
Discover the birthplace of Kermit the Frog and learn about its creator, Jim Henson. The exhibit features Muppet memorabilia, photographs from the Henson Family Album, a tableau honoring Kermit the Frog's birth on Deer Creek and much more. Open Monday thru Saturday.
